TWITCH CURSE APP INSTALL
Might have to ditch Twitch finally if nothing changes once the app is defunct.Įdit: other comments mention MEdge's install as app feature. The website does not, and having to compete against companies trying to disown my responsibilities as a human being is not in my interest. The app was bad, sure, but only by expectations, because it did everything it technically needed to. I might just start making Linux VMs purely for specific websites, just because of how awful web browsers are. But such is the way of things.īrowsers are Satan incarnate when it comes to managing accounts safely. If protecting the sanctity of Partner qualifications were paramount, they would be using their browser platform to push their app, not the other way around. The app can avoid most ad blockers, but most people aren't completely blocking Amazon's ability to harvest data from us via the browser. Sadly, I suspect that integration with Amazon's other cookie-based behavior tracking probably outweighs the user-side benefits of the app. I feel like they could get more useful signals from the desktop app if Partner Qualifications was the goal.
TWITCH CURSE APP SOFTWARE
I am not a professional software developer, but I have some knowledge and experience in the field. I can see why it might be coopted to avoid background lurkers from counting. I had always presumed that the raid-related querystring was primarily used to track raid statistics, perhaps to see how the raid mechanism could be improved or utilized for better ad targeting or some such thing. I find it both inconvenient for the viewer and demeaning for the streamer. The sad consequence is that streamers who are pushing for Partner effectively have to beg people to do the refresh. With respect to the "Partner Viewers" point, I can understand that and I appreciate your insight. I know that nothing I say will change anything, except a small hope that Twitch developers will know that this was an unpopular choice the only people affected will be unhappy, and none of the people who already use the browser platform will care. This will disproportionally affect small streamers like me. Now I will be required to make more affirmative efforts just to watch streams. In sum, this change means that my viewing hours will plummet significantly.
TWITCH CURSE APP PC
As a low-end PC user, the Twitch app allowed me to watch without all the extra overhead that comes with browsers. The Twitch app was the most convenient way for me to watch my favorite channels because I could open and close my browser as needed without worrying about interrupting the show. I am not one to leave browser tabs open.In support of the Twitch App, let me count the ways. While I know that most Twitch users are huge fans of the browser platform, I hope it's not a hot take to say it's not for everyone. Thanks to /u/iTruthful and Conceptional for the art!
